October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The best defense against breast cancer is prevention. By educating yourself on risk factors, you can take appropriate steps to help reduce your individual chance of hearing the words "You have breast cancer."

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and a good opportunity to learn more about the disease. For example, did you know there are different kinds of breast cancer? The kind of breast cancer depends on which cells in the breast turn into cancer. Breast cancer can begin in different parts of the breast, such as the ducts or the lobes.

Common kinds of breast cancer include ductal carcinoma and lobular carcinoma. Less common kinds of breast cancer include Paget's disease and inflammatory breast cancer. To learn more on the types of breast cancer, go to http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/breast/basic_info/kinds-of-breast-cancer.htm.
